Fayette American Legion Post 339 once again sponsored its annual backpack/school supply program.

As part of the program, the local American Legion Post donates 100 backpacks filled with school supplies to five area schools and two community organizations for distribution to children who need them.

North Fayette Valley Elementary schools in Elgin and West Union, West Central Elementary, Starmont Elementary, and Turkey Valley Elementary each received some of the backpacks as well as bottles of hand sanitizer and boxes of zip lock bags.

Additional backpacks were given to the Fayette County Food Shelf and Helping Services for Youth and Families.
